On the morning of Wednesday, 5th March 2025, students at Sheffield Private School gathered in Library 218 for a special session titled “Fresh and Confident: Hygiene Tips for Pre-Teens and Teenagers.” The session was led by Dr. Babu Rafeeq, Specialist Paediatrician at Life Medical Centre, Al Qusais. With more than 25 years of experience and training from top institutions like the Royal College of Physicians (UK), Dr. Babu brought a wealth of knowledge and a friendly, approachable presence to the discussion.
Dr. Babu spoke about the importance of personal hygiene, especially during the pre-teen and teenage years when the body is going through many changes. He explained how simple daily habits—like washing hands, brushing teeth, showering regularly, and covering your mouth when coughing—can have a big impact on health and confidence. He also spoke about more personal topics like managing body odour, cleaning private areas properly, and basic grooming tips like shaving.
The students listened attentively and asked thoughtful questions throughout the session. Dr. Babu’s calm and respectful approach made it easy for everyone to engage and learn, even when discussing sensitive topics. Many students said they felt more aware and confident about how to take better care of themselves after the session.
A big thank you to Dr. Babu Rafeeq for taking the time to speak with our students and to all who participated. At Sheffield Private School, we believe that building good habits early on is key to lifelong health and self-confidence. We look forward to hosting more sessions like this in the future!
