Description

Consaid 40 mg is a sterile, lyophilized powder containing Parecoxib Sodium, a water-soluble prodrug of valdecoxib, formulated for intravenous (IV) or intramuscular (IM) injection. Parecoxib is a selective cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitor, providing effective short-term management of acute post-operative pain.

Composition:

  • Active Ingredient:
    • Parecoxib Sodium equivalent to 40 mg Parecoxib (free acid)
  • Excipients:
    • Sodium carbonate anhydrous
    • May contain buffering agents (e.g., disodium phosphate)
    • No preservative; single-use vial

Indication:

  • Short-term management of post-operative pain in adults.
  • Particularly useful in patients unable to take oral medications.
  • It can be used in both orthopedic and abdominal surgeries.

Dosage and Administration:

Route of Administration:

Reconstitution Instructions:

  • Reconstitute the lyophilized powder with:
    • 2 mL of sterile water for injection
    • Or 0.9% sodium chloride solution
  • Gently swirl (do not shake) until a clear solution is formed.

Dosing (Adults):

    • Initial dose: 40 mg
    • Subsequent doses: 20–40 mg every 6–12 hours as needed
    • Maximum dose: 80 mg/day
    • Maximum duration: Typically not more than 3–5 days
